In this week’s episode of HBO’s new series Westworld, Dr. Ford said:
“We [humans] live in loops as tight and as closed as the hosts do; seldom questioning our choices, content for the most part to be told what to do next.”
It’s True: Most humans live in a loop.
Most people do the same work every day, drive the same routes, visit the same coffee shops, drink at the same bars, watch the same sports games, and generally don’t realize how much time is passing by without meaningful progress.
Unfortunately, if your loop runs too many times, you might wake up one day and realize that you are not where you intended to be.
I don’t claim to have all the answers but I definitely think it is important to decide where you want to be in five, ten, twenty, years and make sure that whatever you are doing today is pushing you in that direction. If your daily actions are not pushing you in that direction then you might want to break your loop.
