General Information
What is Pixel Law, and what services do you provide?
Pixel Law is a virtual law firm based in Boulder, Colorado. I (Chris Brown) am the founder and sole attorney within the firm. I provide one-on-one legal services to startups, freelancers, and small businesses in certain jurisdictions. I also sell contract templates (without one-on-one legal services) to entrepreneurs nationwide through this contract shop.
Who is Chris Brown?
Hi, I’m Chris, a business attorney and entrepreneur. I’ve started and sole two businesses myself, and I am the founder of Pixel Law where I support entrepreneurs. I love what I do. And I hope this shop helps you succeed. You can learn more about me here.
Can I request a custom contract or legal document?
Maybe. I can only provide custom services to you if you engage Pixel Law as your law firm. You may or may not be able to do that. See the question immediately below.
Can I hire Pixel Law / Chris Brown?
Maybe. Pixel Law (and me, Chris) allows certain individuals and businesses to engage the firm for one-on-one legal advice and representation. However, I am not licensed in every state across the country, and I may or may not be able to help you. Feel free to email me (hello@pixellaw.com) if you’d like to explore engaging my firm.
Will these templates work in my state?
It’s impossible to guarantee that a contract will work in every individual state because each state has different laws, regulations, court precedent, etc.
With that said, these templates focus on legal topics that tend to be the same or similar across state lines. Moreover, theses templates were created to be as enforceable as possible in as many states as possible. I attempt to highlight provisions that are commonly known to vary by state. For example, some states place more limitations on non-compete provisions. But to be clear, I am not promising that I will call out all such instances.
How do I contact you?
You can email me at hello@pixellaw.com. I can answer your questions about the shop, but I cannot answer your legal questions unless you engage my law firm (which you may or may not be able to do based on your specific situation).
Is there a refund policy if I’m not satisfied?
Due to the nature of the products in this shop, all purchases in this shop are non-refundable. However, if you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, please email me (hello@pixellaw.com) and I will try to resolve your concerns. Please read the Product License before making a purchase.
What terms apply to my purchase?
This Product License applies to all purchases in this contract shop. Please read the entire license before purchasing a product and pay particular attention to the following sections: (1) What You Can Do, (2) What You Cannot Do, (3) No Attorney-Client Relationship, and (4) Disclaimers & Limitations of Liability.
Contract Templates & Courses
How do I know these templates will actually protect me?
With 15 years of experience working on modern entrepreneurial contracts, I can confidently say that these templates cover the most common scenarios and provisions. My goal was to cover as many situations as possible that a real-world small business is likely to face. However, if you have unique legal needs you may want to ask an attorney to review the template for your specific situation.
Should I buy a template or hire an attorney?
This is a complex question. The short answer is that you should consider hiring an attorney if you need dedicated, one-on-one advice for a complex transaction. If all you need is general guidance with your business or contracts, then a course or template may be all you need. I cannot provide a definitive answer without knowing your unique situation.
I like to think about this in terms of risk. The more risk you have with a specific matter, the more likely you may need an attorney. The less risk, the more likely you can “do it yourself” with the right resources.
In the end, it’s up to you.
What makes Pixel Law's contract templates different?
Oh boy, here we go… I’ve reviewed and negotiated other templates and let me say…. they’re not good. They are full of legalese, lack comprehensive coverage, and are just not useful in practice. These templates use the same structure and language I rely on with my one-on-one law firm clients. To be clear, you are buying DIY templates in this shop, not one-on-one legal advice, but these templates are among the best in the industry in my opinion. They are clear, easy to use, comprehensive, and avoids unnecessary legalese. Moreover, I’ve included substantially more instructions and more comprehensive guides to support these templates than other contract templates, which means you’ll finally understand your contracts. It’s not just fill-in-the blanks. It’s learning why the contract says what it says and how to use it in the real world.
Who is this contract shop designed for?
The products in this shop were designed for modern entrepreneurs that want simple, clear, and stress-free contract templates. All kinds of businesses can use these templates, from freelancers to startups and small businesses. In particular, these templates are great for designers, developers, marketers, creators, social media managers, photographers, videographers, coaches, trainers, and more.
Can I edit the templates?
Yes! The templates are delivered in fully editable Microsoft Word files (.docx). You’ll be able to open the files in most modern word processing programs and edit them to align with your specific needs. Just keep in mind that I cannot guarantee anything regarding the impacts your edits will have on other provisions in the templates. You should review the Product License to fully understand what you can, and cannot do, with the template.
Are there restrictions on what I can do with course content and templates?
Yes. You should read the “What You Cannot Do” section of the Product License before you make a purchase. In short, you cannot share, sell, publish, or distribute course content or templates to anyone else.
However, most courses come with templates designed to be signed by multiple parties and you can share filled-in versions with the other parties to your transactions if they need to review and sign the versions created for them. Please read the “What You Can Do” section of the Product License before you make a purchase.
I don’t know much about contracts. Will I be able to use these templates?
Absolutely! The templates are written in plain English and come with easy-to-follow instructions. You don’t need to be a lawyer to customize and use it with confidence. Plus, this templates include step-by-step guides and videos to walk you through each section.
Purchasing & Accessing Content
Does my purchase make you my lawyer?
No. Buying a course or template does not make Chris Brown your lawyer, or Pixel Law your law firm. A purchase in this shop is the same as making a similar purchase at a bookstore. It is merely a business transaction. Please read the Product License to learn more.
Is my purchase secure?
All purchases are processed through Kit (formerly ConvertKit) using payment processing from Stripe. Pixel Law uses reasonable efforts to protect your information, especially your personally identifiable information and payment information.

Please review the product details on each product page to understand what you receive with each purchase. Most products include video guides, PDF guides, and the specific contract templates (in .docx format).

You’ll get an email after your purchase that contains all the content associated with the course and template. You can use the content as much as you’d like for yourself and your business.
